How To: 現有系統轉成使用 Fasttrak TX2000, RAID 1

OS: Gentoo Linux 2.4.25
ATARAID: Promise Fasttrak TX2000

Already have an working system with lilo, Transfer from IDE to ATARAID (RAID 1)

1. Follow the install doc, re-compile kernel with the related features enabled (promise pdcxxx, scsi, etc)

2. Edit /etc/fstab & /etc/lilo.conf
/etc/fstab: /dev/hdax --> /dev/ataraid/disc0/partx
/etc/lilo.conf: same as above. Also add one more line in the kernel that will be boot: append=" ide=nodma "
Don't execute the lilo command yet

3. Install the Fasttrak card and connect both HD. Creat an array but don't copy disk at this moment.
Power off, disconnect the new HD and boot again. There will be array fail warning, just press "ESC" to skip.

4. Use LiveCD to boot, "gentoo doataraid doscsi ide=nodma", the purpose is to install the boot module(lilo)
(a). Mount the related HD partitions to /mnt/gentoo:
ex. mount /dev/ataraid/disc0/part8 /mnt/gentoo
(b). Mount /proc and /dev:
mount -t proc none /mnt/gentoo/proc
mount -o bind /dev /mnt/gentoo/dev
(c). chroot and then update environment:
chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash
env-update
source /etc/profile
(d). Execute the "lilo" command to install the boot module
(e). Reboot.

5. If you can boot successfully, then connect the second HD and re-build whole disk while booting.

6. Done!!
